Colombia Post Tracking Numbers

What is a Colombia Post Tracking Number?

A Colombia Post tracking number is the unique identifier assigned to mail items and parcels handled by Servicios Postales Nacionales S.A., which operates under the commercial name 4-72. The name 4-72 (cuatro setenta y dos) derives from the approximate geographic coordinates of Colombia's geographic center: 4° North latitude, 72° West longitude. 4-72 assumed operations in late 2006 following the liquidation of the former state postal company Adpostal, and today serves as Colombia's official national postal operator, providing standard postal delivery, express courier service, postal payment services, banking services, and support for online commerce across the country.

Where to Find Colombia Post Tracking Numbers

When you send a parcel or registered item through a 4-72 branch, the receipt you receive will contain the tracking number. If you purchased goods from a Colombian online seller, the tracking number will be included in the shipping confirmation email. International shipments destined for Colombia will carry a tracking number assigned by the originating country's postal service (following UPU format), which can be entered on the 4-72 website. For domestic express shipments, the tracking number is printed on the shipping label. Track at 4-72.com.co.

Colombia Post Tracking Number Formats

4-72 tracking numbers follow the standard UPU 13-character format:

  • Format: Two letters + nine digits + country code CO.
  • Examples: NZ123456789CO, AU098765432CO, US123456789CO.
  • The two-letter suffix CO confirms that the item originates from or is processed by Colombia's postal system.
  • The first two letters indicate service type (e.g., E for EMS/express, R for registered mail, C for parcels).
