What is a Costa Rica Post Tracking Number?
A Costa Rica Post tracking number is a unique identifier assigned to trackable items processed by Correos de Costa Rica — the official national postal service of Costa Rica, operating under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications (MICITT). Founded in 1887, Correos de Costa Rica provides mail, parcel, financial, and logistics services throughout the country and internationally to over 220 countries via the Universal Postal Union (UPU) network. Tracking numbers enable senders and recipients to monitor a shipment's progress through the postal network in real time by entering the code at correos.go.cr or using compatible third-party tracking platforms.
When a tracked item is posted at any Correos de Costa Rica branch or authorised post office, the tracking number is printed on the mailing receipt provided to the sender. For e-commerce purchases made from merchants using Correos de Costa Rica as a shipping partner, the tracking number is typically included in the order confirmation or shipment notification email. For EMS parcels, the code is also printed on the customs declaration form (CN23) attached to the parcel. Recipients who have not received a tracking number should contact the sender. The tracking portal is available at correos.go.cr/rastreo-en-linea/.
Correos de Costa Rica uses the standard UPU 13-character tracking format for its trackable services. The structure is: two-letter prefix + nine digits + country code CR. Common prefix letters indicate the service type:
Example: EE123456789CR. Numbers are usually 13 characters long and are case-insensitive when entered on tracking tools.
